Apple TV
Our television today doesn’t play just like the older ones. After all, we seem to ask more from the viewing experience, not merely relying on what the local channels has to offer. We want the ultimate kind of viewing during our leisure time. Nowadays, we have the power in our hands to choose what we want to view or listen to.
The Apple TV is a small box compact device that you can connect into your home theater system and it allows you to open all the internet options you want over a wireless connection. It comes with 7-button aluminum Apple remote and a power cable. It is simple to use as you spent time exploring some functionalities of the device. You can place the device either to the side or below the wide screen television or even mount it on the back of the television; it won’t affect the connectivity of the infrared to the remote. It also supports 1080p for better viewing experience.
What does Apple TV can do for you? First, it’s easy to install and set up to my commercial TV. Just plug in the power cable in to the back of the device and the other end in to the wall, once done your apple TV will instantly power on. You can use the remote to control the device or you can also use your iphone provided that you have the remote apps installed in it, plug in the device in your commercial TV and wait for it to start up. Second, the feature called Airplay allows my iPad2 to feed songs and video clips to my TV.
Another thing is that, I can also mirror or venture my PC, live streaming my videos, photos, music or even presentation in business meeting or events from my phone or mac book directly to the big screen. Lastly, provided that you have activated some subscription channel, you can have live streaming of sports, news and events just in the tip of your fingertips. More channels are available to watch like NBA sports with best resolution quality and it doesn’t take long to load especially when you have a great and fast Wifi or internet connection. Connecting to your I-tune accounts directly to your TV is one important feature in this device, for iTunes allows you to buy or rent content and view it on the box along with previously purchased contents. The usefulness of this is based on where you buy content.
The only major disadvantage to this is that you cannot download third party application. The pre-installed application of the Apple TV is all you can play or explore to. And there’s this lack of content options, limited channels will also limit your entertainment of multimedia viewing as well. The video playback is a bit choppy and mirroring, especially with games, has too much lag in it. Another thing is if you are not really into i-tunes, then you would not really enjoy the services it provides for I-Tune is like 1/3 of the functionality of the TV. So your enjoyment of this device will depend directly on the amount you give yourself to Apple. Finally, question lies in the quality of feeds it provides, compare to other brands like RKU and AKU. Apple TV streaming and buffering has a very little degradation of picture.
I find the device an overall ok to use in my sense. It’s a joy to own one and play with to be more familiarize with its functionalities. The services I get from the device seems to satisfy me but not really with the money I spent most on purchasing from I-tunes. I love listening and watching movies and all but it gets more expensive at the later part in purchasing rather than having more channels in my TV to view somewhat the same content I get from i-tunes. But in terms of the fluidity of the interface, it is superb and you should get one of this if you don’t want to miss the fun and excitement of having this in within your vicinity.
